Tips for Completing the College Plans Section of the Scholarship Application

To aid you with completing the College Plans section of the Scholarship application, we offer the tip-filled video below and — below the video — a set of step-by-step written instructions. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@mitchellinstitute.org.

1. Submitting Your College Acceptance Letter

Please upload to your scholarship application a copy of your college acceptance letter from the first-choice college you plan to attend. This can be a scanned copy or photo of a letter you received in the mail, or it can be a screenshot or PDF of an email if you received your acceptance notification via email.

If your college plans change, that’s OK. We would simply like to know your college plans at this time.

2. Submitting Your Itemized Financial Aid Offer

Please upload to your scholarship application a copy of your itemized financial aid offer from the first-choice college you plan to attend. This can be a scanned copy or photo of a letter you received in the mail, or it can be a screenshot or PDF of the information as it appears in your online portal.

Your itemized financial aid offer will include a detailed breakdown of the scholarships, grants, federal work study, and any federal and school loans that your first-choice college has made available to you. Please see the example below of what we are asking you to submit as part of your application.

Depending upon when you filed your FAFSA, you may not have received this itemized financial aid offer by the Scholarship application deadline of April 1. If you have not received your itemized financial aid offer by April 1, please send us any financial aid-related information you do have, such as information about outside scholarships you may have received or merit-based awards your college may have offered you as part of your acceptance letter. We’ll do our best to judge your financial aid package based on the information you can provide by April 1.

You can share updated information about your college choice with us at any time by emailing info@mitchellinstitute.org.
